Contest Eligibility and Entry Requirements

The Silken Sands Self-Published Star Contest is open to members of RWA as well as non-members.

Entrants must be 18 years of age by December 31, 2011.

Completed entry forms and appropriate fees must be received by the Gulf Coast Chapter of RWA no later than 5 p.m. CT, on January 5, 2012. All forms and fees received after the deadline will be returned to the entrant.

Entrants are required to check a box on the entry form indicating their acceptance of contest terms.

Entries to the 2011 contest must be original works of fiction that were released between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Works that have been previously released may not be submitted.

Entry Fee: $20 per book for members of GCCRWA, $25 for non-members

Participants must complete this online entry form and send their entry fee (or fees, if entering multiple books) to the Gulf Coast RWA Chapter.  Once the entry form has been successfully submitted online, a representative from GCC will send a PayPal invoice to the author.  In addition, the author will need to submit the digital copies of her/his entry in the following formats: Mobi, ePub, and PDF.  (So for each entry, you will be sending three digital copies of your book.)  Instructions for sending these files are included on the entry form.

A note regarding multiple entries…Authors may enter more than one novel in this contest; however, the same work may not be entered in multiple categories (i.e,. you cannot submit the same book in both the historical category and the romantic suspense category).

All categories must receive a minimum number of entries. If the established minimum is not reached, then the received entry fees for that category will be returned.

Maximum number of entries:  The first 200 entries received will be entered in the Self-Published Star Contest.  After 200 entries are received, registration will be closed.

Prizes

Winners from each category will be included in an RWR advertisement (featuring all the first place book covers). Winners will also receive a certificate of recognition, a starfish award from the GCCRWA, and a winning icon to place on their websites.
