Presenter Biography:

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Laura Hayden began her reading career at the age of four. Although she always loved to write, she became sidetracked in college where differential equations outweighed dangling participles. But one engineering degree, one wedding, two kids, and three military assignments later, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she met people who shared her passion for writing.  With their support, instruction, and camaraderie, she set and met her goal of selling her first book.  Since selling her first book, Laura has moved six more times, sold ten more novels, (romantic suspense, paranormal romance, mystery and political intrigue), a non-fiction book about New York Times bestselling author, Nora Roberts, and several fantasy short stories.  She now lives in Alabama and owns Author, Author! bookstore and is a co-owner of NovelTalk.com.

Workshop Description:

The workshop shows how music and sound have been used to subliminally influence all of us in our everyday lives and then shows how we, as writers, can use similar techniques to influence what and how we write.  Laura will show the audience how specific styles of music can elicit certain universal responses through a series of interactive writing sessions.  We also discuss practical application, especially for writers who can’t listen to anything when they write, as well as sources for music.
